Catholic Earthcare welcomes new team

Catholic Earthcare Australia is pleased to introduce our new team to the Catholic and environmental community in Australia. Bernard Holland, director, Sue Martin, NSW program manager and Clare Vernon, youth eco-summit coordinator.

Our team is excited to spread the message of Laudato Si’, and work with the wider community in helping to care for and heal our common home.

We are faced not with two separate crises, one environmental and the other social, but rather with one complex crisis which is both social and environmental. Strategies for a solution demand an integrated approach to combating poverty, restoring dignity to the excluded, and at the same time protecting nature. (LS:139)

– Pope Francis, Paragraph 139, Laudato Si’: On care for our common home, 2015.

Bernard Holland has substantial experience in both the education and environmental space. Bernard’s mission in life is to make a difference by facilitating a sustained improvement in the economic, social and ecological benefits within civic society.

Sue Martin works closely with the Eco-Jesuits, the Earth Ministry within the Parramatta Diocese and comes from an extensive career in environmental education. Sue also runs Sustainable Schools NSW.

Clare Vernon comes from a background in environmental volunteering – in particular, Landcare. Clare is passionate about engaging and empowering young people to take action on the environmental issues that matter to them.
