Today’s Gospel reading focusses on the fact that even Jesus’ friends – in the time he actually walked amongst them – struggled to understand what was happening that first Easter . . . (pause)
So, let us take the time to be still, and to recognise that God-in-us prompts us to reach out and share his love, in practical ways, with others

Let us pray that the People of East Timor, who celebrate the seventh anniversary of the election their first president, Xanana Gusmao, next Tuesday, will continue their journey to lasting peace in the coming year . . . (pause)

We pray for the foresight and perseverance to live sustainably in our environment, and to continue work like that of Starkist canneries, which in 1990, discontinued the use of drag-nets for tuna-fishing, dramatically increasing survival rates of dolphins in the world’s oceans . . . (pause)

Let us pray for fire-fighting, police, ambulance, and other emergency service personnel who are helping survivors in central Italy’s recent earthquake, and for community leaders entrusted with helping them re-build their homes and lives . . . (pause)
