As we grapple with the idea that someone who has been crucified is a sign of hope in our lives and for our world, let us pray that – as Christ’s followers – we can find ways to help those who need us to support them in the coming week . . . (pause)

All: Lord, hear our prayer
Next Saturday, Harmony Day, also begins the Week of Solidarity with people struggling against Racial Discrimination. So we pray, too, for our own indigenous sisters and brothers – who are at risk of losing hard-won recognition of ownership of their traditional lands, as part of intervention strategies about to be implemented by our Federal Government . . . (pause)

As we also anticipate Friday’s World Day of Planetary Consciousness, we pray for those helping us to focus on living sustainably, including our local environmental planning group, as they meet to decide the next steps in our journey of caring for the earth, together . . . (pause)

Let us pray for people who have recently lost loved ones, including the new Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangerai, whose wife was killed in the collision which also injured him . . . (pause)
