Tess Corkish, Youth Network Coordinator

Catholic Earthcare is proud to announce that we are launching a new Youth Network in 2015.

We are strong advocates for taking practical action to protect Creation. We believe that young people have the most to lose in this fight for the future of our planet, but also the most to gain from engaging with all sectors of the community around biodiversity, water security and climate change.

Twenty-one year old Tess Corkish, the youngest member of the Catholic Earthcare team, will be coordinating the Network.  She says: “I have reaped the benefits of engaging in a faith-based environmental community, and now I would like to combine my love of the environment with my love for Creation, and engage with young people from around Australia.”

Membership of this Youth Network will be limited to 15-30 year olds, and they will meet on a regular basis (either face-to-face or via skype). All are welcome, from the seasoned activist to anyone just trying to understand how faith relates to environmental issues.

Actions will include:

  • social events
  • mentoring
  • school projects
  • university projects (Earthcare on campus)
  • seminars/talks
  • bushwalks
  • workshops
  • conference/festival
  • film nights
  • interfaith actions
  • possible civil disobedience (for those who feel comfortable)
  • prayer groups
  • There will also be a monthly newsletter and a Facebook group for online interaction.

We are firm believers of Faith in action and we think that 2015, the year of Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment, is the perfect year to engage with young people in our community.

If you would like to get involved, please call our office on 02 8907 9500 during business hours or email

Important Announcement

Catholic Earthcare is the part of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference which promotes ecological conversion to achieve a loving and sustainable relationship with the natural world. It uses environmental education, national and international links and advocacy to achieve this goal.

In May 2017, the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference decided to incorporate Catholic Earthcare Australia into its sister agency, Caritas Australia. This change was made to strengthen the capacity of Catholic Earthcare Australia, particularly in advocating and educating about the principles of Holy Father’s 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si, and to achieve synergies with Caritas Australia’s extensive education and advocacy work around Australia, including parishes, schools and the wider Catholic community on environmental issues such as climate change.

Caritas Australia is the Church’s international aid and development agency.  As part of the global Caritas confederation operating in 190 countries, it works alongside marginalised communities in many countries and with 11 First Australian agencies here in Australia.  Promoting the principles of Laudato Si is at the centre of the global confederation and of Caritas Australia.

This website is being refined to reflect the new administrative arrangements for Catholic Earthcare Australia. For all enquiries in relation to the work of Catholic Earthcare Australia or to request assistance, please call  1800 024 413 or email

Thank you for your ongoing support of Catholic Earthcare Australia and your commitment to combating climate change and protecting the environment and ecosystems from degradation and pollution.
