General Intercessions

Recalling what today's first reading said - that God's word is in our hearts and minds - let us pray for the strength to share what being loved means, by how we live with and for other people in the coming week ...(pause)

All: Lord, hear our prayer

Helping hands So let us pray for all who work for peace in our world, including community leaders to whom we have entrusted the care of those whose future is uncertain, like homeless people in our country, and refugees and asylum-seekers who have fled theirs because of violence, persecution, and social disruption in many parts of our world ...(pause)
Lord, hear us
All: Lord, hear our prayer

As we anticipate the anniversary this week of the detonating of the first atomic bomb in 1945, and recall the destruction of lives and devastation of the environment flowing from subsequent use of this weapon, let us pray that we will find workable ways to keep habitats safe and sustainable, and ensure that plant, animal and human life survives into the future ...(pause)

Having noted the joy of Fred Hollows' family - and members of the foundation he left behind to help blind people see again - at a new honour to his memory in the past week, which will ensure his work continues into the future, let us pray for people in our communities who are caring for loved ones experiencing physical and emotional challenges ...(pause)
